SCA Roasting Intermediate

With this course master and refine your roasting techniques, learn about the essence of quality, improve your tasting skills and earn SCA certification! Interested in roasting? Start or expand a roasting operation or seek employment as a master roaster? Take your coffee roasting skills to the next level. We immerse you in a series of practical training exercises. Among other things, this is what you will learn:

  • Identify and prevent toasting defects;
  • Visual and chemical changes of the coffee beans during the roasting process;
  • Planning and execution of optimized roasting profiles;
  • Implementation of protocols for consistency and for continuous quality improvement;
  • Application of efficient workspace design and workflow management.

Due to Covid, student has the option to attend this course in a Hybrid format: Classes are ONLINE-LIVE. Exercises and Practice will be arranged with the AST on private sessions. 

Then, learners will take the SCA Roasting Intermediate practical exam. They must then complete a written exam alone online. By completing the course work and passing the exams, students earn 10 points towards the SCA Coffee Skills Diploma.

Once you have booked and your payment is confirmed, we will begin the process of preparing your class. Although we understand that there are situations beyond our control that may require you to reschedule or cancel your reservation, our refund and rescheduling policy reflects the costs incurred in preparing the scheduled class.
Refund Policy: Training fees are fully refundable if training is canceled at least 14 days prior to the start of the course. No cancellation is available with less than 2 business days notice, however you can reschedule with the corresponding rescheduling fees.
Rescheduling Fees: No fee is applied if rescheduling is requested at least 14 days before the start of the course. A rescheduling fee of US $ 150 will apply if rescheduling is requested less than 14 days prior to the start of the course.
