Intro to Post-Harvest Processing is a 5-hour online or in person non-certification class geared toward coffee professionals or aficionados who want to better understand the basic processing methods. The class covers a brief history of coffee processing, coffee harvesting methods, pre-cleaning measures and the standard post-harvest processing methods: natural, honey, mechanically demucilaged, fully washed, and wet hulled.
The goal is to understand the traditional processing methods and the importance of the coffee post-harvest processor in determining flavor profile.
Students will understand the traditional coffee processing methods in terms of the fruit anatomy, when and why these methods developed, and how common processing terms are used differently by different origins and actors.
This class from the Coffee Quality Institute offers an introduction to green coffee post-harvest processing methods. Learn the science and techniques to improve quality and consistency in every cup of coffee. Gain key insights to apply across the entire value chain.
Who is it for? Coffee people who are interested in learning the basics of processing.
After the completion of the class students will be given a participation award.
